Permissions Justification
Required Permissions:
1. activeTab
- Purpose: Access the currently active tab to detect and control media elements
- Usage: Allows the extension to inject volume control scripts into the active tab when the user clicks the extension icon
- Data Access: Only accesses the tab when user explicitly opens the popup
2. tabs
- Purpose: List and identify tabs with media content for multi-tab control
- Usage: Enables the dropdown selector that shows all tabs with active media
- Data Access: Only reads tab titles and URLs to identify media platforms (YouTube, Spotify, etc.)
3. scripting
- Purpose: Inject content scripts to control audio elements on web pages
- Usage: Required to manipulate Web Audio API and HTML5 media elements for volume control
- Data Access: Only injects scripts into supported media platforms
4. storage
- Purpose: Save user preferences locally
- Usage: Stores volume settings, theme preferences, and last-used multiplier
- Data Access: All data stored locally in browser; never transmitted
